If you are looking for help with fixing your slow computer, then look no further. In this post the topics I am going to cover include: Memory, Windows, and also the Registry.
Install More RAM
From my own experiences, I can tell you that the amount of memory you have in your computer really does make a huge difference to the speed of your PC. So it's definately worth considering buying some more RAM, as it's going to dramatically improve your computer's overall performance.
Get a RAM Manager
Alternatively, if you can't afford to buy new RAM or you are unsure about how to install it, it is possible to maximise the use of your computer’s existing Memory. Often, RAM can remain “in use” even after the program using it's closed. There are various freeware programs available which can release this unused memory. One of these is FreeRAM XP Pro, which you can download for free. Search for it, and you’ll find it.
Defrag Your Hard Disk
As you use your hard disk, the files on it become split into small pieces that get stored on different parks of the disk. After a while this can cause your computer to slow right down, as it takes longer and longer to load files and programs. So make sure you regularly defragment your hard disk by right clicking on the drive and going to Properties, Tools.
Reinstall Windows
If you have tried everything I've suggested and your computer is still running slow, then it could be time to reinstal Windows again. For some reason, over time Windows tends to slow down. In my own experience, my computer is never faster than when I have just installed Windows. However, make sure you backup any files you want to keep, before you even think about starting the Windows installation process.
